Cloud's Legacy: The Wild Stallion Returns
Selected as a Finalist in the Colorado Book Awards

Ginger Kathrens' continuing chronicle of Cloud, a wild stallion living in the Montana wilderness, has been selected as a finalist in the 13th Annual Colorado Book Awards. Winners will be announced at a public ceremony Thursday, November 18th. This is Kathrens' second nomination in the prestigious competition. Her first book, Cloud: Wild Stallion of the Rockies won the Colorado Book Award for Young Adult Readers in 2001.

Her second book, Cloud's Legacy: The Wild Stallion Returns continues the saga of the precocious pale stallion she named Cloud when he was only hours old. In Cloud's Legacy, Cloud is a young band stallion fighting to hold his family together, battling other stallions, and enduring lightning storms, brutal winters, lethal predators, government round-ups and a raging wildfire. Two sons dominate the story. One is not Cloud's by blood but will be raised by him. The other is Cloud's spitting image but will never know him as a father.

The Cloud books are Kathrens' first and are filled with hundreds of her color photographs. Her writing takes us on an intimate journey with a remarkable wild animal. The books are companions to Ginger's two PBS Nature series programs about Cloud. The sequel program, "Cloud's Legacy: The Wild Stallion Returns", airs nationally on PBS on Sunday evening October 3rd on Nature.

The Cloud Double Program DVD or VHS is now available for only $19.95.
